The benefits of owning a Candle

Here at Lilac & Co, we aren't just a candle business - we care about each of our customers.

So, here are our top 5 favourite tips on how lighting your favourite candle can create a more relaxing, luxurious and calming atmosphere in any space

  • Candles can help promote focus

Have you ever noticed that in most religious buildings, candles are a main ornament in every corner of the room? For hundreds (if not thousands) of years, Monks have used candles as a way to help focus and balance the energy in their monasteries, crafting a balance of light and joy. They use candles to help centre their thoughts, promote a calm environment and help them focus on meditation

  • Candles promote a healthy environment

Our candles derive from natural soy/coconut blend of wax, created from plant materials. This means that there are no harmful toxins or gases being released into the air around you. The materials we use are also 100% cruelty free, so there are no bad aura's connected to them

  • Our scents promote good moods

We only use the highest of quality scents in our candles, and put in hours of research before we make a decision on which scents we use. While doing this, we also test scents on our friends and family, and make sure they love it, before we know you will. Through this research, we make sure that we have only chosen scents that create a good mood.

  • Memories are closely recalled through our sense of smell

Our most powerful sense is our sense of smell!

Have you ever been on holiday, and never wanted to leave? Ever walked by a store that smells exactly like that time you were laying on a beach in Mykonos? By lighting your favourite candle scent, you are not only inviting in a good mood, you're also simultaneously recalling on happy memories. This also helps promote a healthy environment, and focus on your surroundings.

  • Candle's help release negative energy from your mind

Studies show that an ever growing list of people are developing mental health related sicknesses at a more alarming rate than ever. In fact the Australian Bureau of Statistics states that "One in five (20%) Australians aged 16-85 experience a mental illness in any year."[1] It is no wonder that candles become a staple in the house holds of many Australian's and people abroad as a way of 'self-care'. Linking back to our sense of smell closely links to our memories, lighting your favourite candle is a way to help relieve the anxieties and pressures we put on ourselves every day.

  • Unfortunately any synthetic component to make the candle smell nice introduces yet another layer of toxic and harmful chemicals into the environment. Avoid synthetic fragrance at all cost.

  • I love the fact that you’ve included how closely memory and smell is linked. Such a perfect explanation on how I use my smell sense. Can’t wait to buy my candles and relive those perfect holiday memmories
